'Plexoudes' is the third full-length album by Greek oudist & composer Thomas Meleteas, recorded alongside Simos Papaspyrou, Lambros Papanikolaou, Manousos Klapakis and Raphael Meleteas. It features seven new pieces inspired by the musical traditions of the eastern Mediterranean. In his own words:

"New music is a living organism, an ever-changing flow. It doesn’t need to be bound to specific norms of the past, nor to be in a constant search of innovation for its existence to be justified. It is an omni-directional form of communication between the creator and the community, a small kaleidoscope that might shine a light to whomever catches a glimpse of its many reflective surfaces.

The music presented here treats the musical vocabulary of the north-eastern Mediterranean as elastic material, stretched enough to enclose various other musical influences - but with care and love for its delicate surfaces not to break.

This is “Plexoudes”. Precious to me sounds, words, pulses, friends and collaborators - intertwined, like the palms of lovers".
